ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION: The U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce (USRCC) is a 501 (c) (6) nonprofit organization based in Houston, Texas. It was established in 2009 to promote business and investment opportunities between the U.S. and Russia. USRCC has offices in the Midwest and the NorthEast. USRCC assists U.S. companies to expand in Russia by providing access to specialized market research focused on delivering attractive new business growth opportunities, and leads identification and selection of reliable business partners. Russian companies benefit from USRCC’s in-depth knowledge of the business community in the U.S. USRCC provides access to high-level business and governmental decision makers.
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The Executive Director of the U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce (USRCC) is appointed by and reports to the Board of Directors, and is an ex-officio (non-voting) member of the Board. The Executive Director is responsible for management and operations of USRCC, a 501(c) (6) nonprofit organization with close to 100 members in the U.S., Europe, and Russia.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assess progress of USRCC activities, and develop short-term and long-term development strategy. Analyze and provide recommendations for future programming to the USRCC Board of Directors;
• Work with current members to ensure they are receiving requisite services and support. Meet with prospective members to encourage participation in USRCC’s activities;
• Develop a budget, manage the assets and financial resources of USRCC, and maintain and review accounts on behalf of USRCC;
• Develop and manage budgets for all events, ensuring all activities are conducted within budget and according to schedule;
• Conduct bi-weekly meetings with the USRCC Executive Committee, reporting on progress, plans, and budgetary issues;
• Manage team of employees and volunteers providing support to USRCC at both the organizational and project level;
• Cultivate and maintain contacts within the American and Russian business communities, other Chambers of Commerce, U.S., and Russian governments, NGOs, and other relevant organizations;
• Manage relationships with the members and develop new members;
• Act as USRCC’s representative at public events and meetings, advocating for USRCC positions on a variety of topics;
• Manage the office and daily activities of the USRCC, and conduct USRCC activities including membership events, fundraising, surveys, research, and publications;
• Develop and handle official correspondence of USRCC, act as the Secretary to the Board of Directors during Board Meetings, and work with USRCC employees and volunteers to keep complete records of the proceedings; • Implement other function as set forth by the Board of Directors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Undergraduate degree in business, public policy, communications, or related field. Advanced degree from accredited institution preferred;
• At least five years of solid professional experience, preferably in a western-oriented business or international organization;
• English or Russian native speaker with good command of the other language. Preferred: Fluency in both written and verbal English and Russian;
• Strong analytical and writing skills;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to implement strategies and tactics in a timely manner and maintain regular and frequent contact with the Board of Directors;
• Effective interpersonal skills, proactive communication and team building skills to be able to develop and maintain contacts and relationships and manage staff;
• Business development skills;
• Good understanding of the political and economic environment in the U.S. and Russia;
• Understanding of administrative and accounting processes with appropriate control procedures;
• Computer literacy and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs.
